Purpose
The Corporation is formed to promote the interests of African Americans specifically, and people of color in general, working in the field of affordable housing; and to promote the interests of African Americans specifically, and people of color in general, living in affordable housing. The Corporation aims to fulfill this purpose by providing technical, operational, educational and moral support to its Membership by offering opportunities for professional skills enhancement, economic betterment, educational and technical resources and a nationwide network of pro-active assistance:
- Seek to insure adequate funding and resources for those entities and individuals working in the field of affordable housing or engaged in the business of providing goods and/ or services to such entities and individuals throughout the United States, its possessions, and the District of Columbia.
- Seek to ensure opportunities for economic advancement for individuals and families living in affordable housing.
- Various legislative activities of Congress that relate to housing for lower income people and bring to bear the views and interests of the Membership on such activities.
- Monitor the activities of the federal administrative agencies as those activities relate to housing for lower income people and bring to bear the views and interests of the Membership on such activities.
- Monitor the activities of state and local legislative and administrative bodies as those activities relate to housing for low-income people and bring to bear the views and interests of the Membership on such activities.
- Provide training and education to its Membership on matters relating to transacting business with or on behalf of affordable housing providers.
- Provide training and education to affordable housing tenants and their representatives on matters relating to available resources and services to assist in bettering their economic condition.
- Serve as a clearinghouse of information and services relating to the purpose of the Corporation available to the Membership.
